Part of six weeks of talks and workshops on the anthropocene, Transtemporal Grounding Device was an installation comprised of three materials- brick, soil, and trashglomerate- each intended as thinking devices for exploring the relationship between memory, time, history, and nature. These materials were used as writing prompts in the workshop “Haunted Ground: Slavery, Trash, Soil, and the Logics of Ecological Destruction,” led by Martens.
